A hidden rating you never see, shown as a rank you do. Ten tiers, four divisions each, LP for every win. Three placement matches and you have one. Beating someone above you is worth more than beating someone below. And the top of it gets hired.
Ten tiers · four divisions each
Every season runs for a set stretch of weeks. When the clock on it stops, the companies hiring receive the final standings and the résumé each player attached to their rank. A rank is evidence. A résumé on its own is a claim.
Where you finished, and what it took. Not a claim about yourself, but a result with matches behind it.
They see the card. Where you placed, against whom, and how fast, next to the résumé you attached to it.
Skip the screen you have already passed a hundred times. The rank was the screen.
